The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) funds thousands of top researchers at universities and research institutes and channels Dutch science by means of grants and research programmes.

A number of NWO institutes are based at Science Park Amsterdam: the CWI, AMOLF and Nikhef. The NWO develops and funds top-quality research programmes in collaboration with scientists, international science organizations and industry.

It has an annual budget of over five hundred million euros that funds some six thousand researchers, technicians, policy-makers and support staff working in science and research.
