Sander Bais named UvA Lecturer of the Year 2010

On 10 January 2011, during the celebration of the 379th Dies Natalis of the University of Amsterdam, the jury president announced that Sander Bais had been named UvA Lecturer of the Year 2010.

The jury president presented Sander Bais with the Golden Stilts, a golden sculpture of a pair of stilts which symbolise the exemplary lecturer who rises above his or her peers due to unique qualities.

Sander Bais was chosen because he is not a lecturer residing in an ivory tower, but seeks instead to connect students and lecturers. He builds bridges between different scientific disciplines and does not lose sight of the link between culture, society and science. (UvA)
