Myra van der Meulen wins Waternetwerk Thesis Prize 2010

On Friday 26 November 2010 Myra van der Meulen, won the Waternetwerk Thesis Prize 2010 for her thesis titled: "Alien freshwater species and their Influence on the goals set by the Water Framework Directive", that she wrote as part of her MSc studies of Limnology & Oceanography under final supervision of Dr. Michiel Kraak of the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED).

The work was performed at the Laboratory for Ecological Risk Assessment of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM-LER) under daily supervision of Dr. José Vos en Dr. Wilko Verweij and was also published in the Dutch professional journal H2O. Myra van der Meulen currently works at Deltares.

Waternetwerk was founded in 2009 from the fusion of the ‘Koninklijke Vereniging voor Waterleidingbelangen' (KVWN) and the ‘Nederlandse Vereniging voor Waterbeheer (NVA)'. The prize is aimed at water related student theses and reports and consists of a free 2 year membership of Waternetwerk, a publication in H2O and in Neerslag and a monetary award of €1000. (UvA)
